I think your use of black and white is of honour in this situation... as if this "moment in time" is encapsulated forever; more-so than if it were in colour.
The subtlety of the moon behind the fog of smoke, the depth of the waters-edge verses the horizon, the chard and melting of the boat in addition to the sureness of the water makes for an exquisite and timeless foto.
